VALPARAISO.--John Bayles, age 81, died at his home here on Wednesday, following a short illness. He was born in Athens, O., and has resided in Valparaiso for the past five years. Surviving are the wife and the following children: Francis A. and Richard Bayles, Niles, Mich.; John W., of Detroit, Mich.; Nelson L., of Danville, Ill.; Mrs. Lillie Williamson, Valparaiso; Mrs. Lucy Mentzer, Chicago; Margaret Fay, Michigan City, Ind.; Mrs. Catharine Hollar and Mrs. Edna Ebersold, of Elkhart, Ind. The remains were taken to Chesterton for burial in the Furnessville cemetery.

Father of Mrs. O.D. Fay of MI City, died Wednesday in Valparaiso. He was 82 years old. His widow and several children survive him. J.W. Bayles, of Detroit, formerly of this city, is a son of the decedant. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Chesterton, the burial will be in Furnessville. (Furnessville Cem. 275 E. 1500 N., Westchester).
