William Zerby, 86, died at 6 p. m. Friday in Berrien county hospital, Berrien Center, where he had been a patient for some time. He was born Jan. 21, 1863 in Pennsylvania, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Zerby, and came to Michigan when he was 15 years old when the family settled in Royalton township.
Mr. Zerby married Kattie Casselman on July 7, 1898 and they resided on a farm near Glendora for a number of years. Mrs. Zerby died on June 12, 1932.
Surviving are three sons, Edgar of Berrien Springs; William, Jr., of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Lester of Royalton; two daughters, Mrs. Bert Schmelchel and Mrs. Russel Annable of Three Oaks; 12 grand children and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Adam of Benton Harbor and James of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. J. J. Reich of the Baptist church at 2:30 p. m. Monday in The Griner funeral home. Burial will be in Hinman cemetery. Friends may call at the Griner chapel.
