Services for Charles L. Shackelford, 70, Indianapolis, a former laborer, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Shirley Brothers Drexel Chapel, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. He died Monday in a local nursing home. A native of Kentucky, he had lived here most of his life. Survivors include two daughters, Linda and Marilyn Shackelford.

Death notice shows that he resided at 1206 E. New York and was survived by 3 grandchildren.

His birth cert gives his name as Charley Shackelford and his birthplace as 1234 Udell St., Indianapolis. It appears that his parents moved to Indianapolis in 1910 or 1911 but moved back to KY a few years later. After 1918, the family remained in Indianapolis.
He married Frances Myrtle Hinchan on Feb. 26, 1942, Marion Co., IN (Book 553, Page 159).
He has not been located in the WWII draft card index.
