Margaret Elizabeth Bell, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away Feb 12, 2006 at War Memorial Hospital.
Margaret was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on Oct 21, 1916, the daughter of the late Frank and Effie (Scales) Bye. She worked as a bookkeeper at her parent's business, Bye Fuel and Ice Co. She also worked at the Ojibway restaurant where she met Howard Bell, whom she later married on Oct 6, 1942. During their fifty six year marriage they owned and operated a farm and Bell's Cabins where they raised their seven children. Her memberships included the Pine Grove Grange, Pine Grove Reading Club, and the Clara Lindstrom Circle of the First Baptist Church. She was the longest living member of the First Baptist Church. One of her greatest pleasures in life was staying connected with family and friends, always sending personal notes and cards to stay in touch.
She is survived by five sons; Gary (Diane) Bell of Negaunee, MI, Robert (Julie) Bell of Alpena, MI, Donald (Lauretta) Bell of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Arlen (Lovada) Bell of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Harvey (Annette) Bell of Deford, MI, two daughters; Karen (Alan) Raynard of Pickford, MI and Kathy (Steve) Forrest of East Lansing, MI. She enjoyed her 21 grandchildren; Kevin (Lori) Bell, Kallie Bell-Bonner, Kyle (April) Bell, Alan (Jill) Bell, David (Tammy) Bell, Luke (Heather) Bell, Caroline (Steve) May, Amos (Amanda) Bell, Marcy (Mark) Uyl, Owen (Amy) Bell, Cassy Bell, Whitney Bell, Aaron Bell, Kaylee Bell, Allyson Bell, Timothy Raynard, Michelle Raynard, Katie Raynard, Linda Raynard, Emily Forrest, and Maria Forrest. She was also blessed with 26 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard R Bell (1998); a great granddaughter, Peyton Elizabeth Bell; three brothers, Edwin, Earl, and Richard Bye; and a sister, Gertrude Atherton.
A horse drawn processional will carry her body from her home to the Pine Grove Cemetery for burial in the spring.
