Charlie was born the son of Thomas and Georgia Strother in English, Crawford County, later moving to Orange County, Indiana. He became the husband of Nora Aleene Mathers and Lena Belle Richardson, respectively.
Charlie entered into the US Army on May 11, 1942 in Louisville, KY for World War II, serving as a Private.
Charlie and Nora were blessed with two children, Betty Jo (1943) and Charles Laverne (1954). Sadly, Nora died just a few months after Laverne was born.
Charlie married Lena on May 28, 1955 and produced 2 more children Gloria Jean (1957) and Bobby Wayne (1965).
