Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Union Army. He was awarded the CMOH as a Corporal in Company E, 12th Ohio Infantry for action on September 14, 1862 at South Mountain, Maryland. His citation reads "Alone and unaided and with his left hand disabled, captured a Confederate captain and four men."
