Jerry was the third child and second son born to Hugh Johnson "Huey" and Mary Caroline "Callie" (Childers) Spencer, and the grandson of Jeremiah Matt "Jerry" and Louisa (Childers) Childers. In late 1907 he became ill with "flux" (present day dysentery) and died in Dec 1907 at only 3 years of age. There are few other known facts about Jerry who was probably named for his maternal grandfather, Jerry Childers. In November 1914, Huey and Callie migrated from Wolfe County to Breathitt County, Kentucky, and purchased a farm between War Creek and Oakdale. Both are buried in the Spencer Little Family Cemetery at Oakdale.
