Joy O. Bowman, 71, of McGehee, died Wednesday at McGehee-Desha County Hospital at McGehee.

She was born July 17, 1932, at DeKalb, Miss., a daughter of the late Dewy Alexandra and Bealie Richardson Alexandra.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church at McGehee.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Bowman; one son, Allen Bowman of McGehee; three daughters, Glenda Young of Benton, Gaye Vanzant of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gail Lindberg of Memphis; five brothers, Jr. D. Alexandra of Ypsilanti, Mich., Cedell Alexandra and Muldron Alexandra, both of Louisville, Miss., Carl Alexandra of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Lindsey Alexandra of Ackerman, Miss.; two sisters, Connie Cumberland of Preston, Miss., and Judy Holton of Noxapater, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Griffin Funeral Service of McGehee with Tommy Cunningham and the Rev. Clay Stubbs officiating. Burial will be in McGehee Cemetery.
