He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, as a cook for the officers, in New York City Harbor. He worked as an Electrician for Chrysler and Ford, and retired from General Motors Hydromatic Plant after 30+ years of loyal service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and especially time spent with family.
Survived by three children: Shirley (Ronald) Brooks of Ypsilanti, MI, Thomas Alexander and Stanley (Karen) Alexander, both of Belleville, MI; 5 grandchildren, Ron (Christen) Brooks, Debbie (Jeremy) Fitzgerald, Kendra (Aaron) Alberts, Sarah (Matt) Laginess, Emily (Drew) Brown, 8 great-grandchildren, Madisyn Brooks, Jeremy Fitzgerald, Hailey Alberts, Charlotte Alberts, Sophie Laginess, Finn Laginess, Owen Brown, and Autumn Brown, one brother Richard Carl Alexander of Alabama, also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Adele (Decker) Alexander on August 13, 2011, four brothers Muldrow, Arkel, Cedell and Lindsay Alexander, also four sisters Dora Lee McClurg, Oree Joy Bowman, Connie Cumberland and Judy Holton.
Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM Friday, August 31, 2018 at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville, MI 48111-2764 (734)697-4500. Interment will be in Alban Cemetery, Ypsilanti Township, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics or VFW Post #4434 and would be appreciated.
