Death of IDA MAY BONEBRAKE

Our readers will remember that during last spring, an item appeared in this paper giving an account of 2 young girls, IDA M. BONEBRAKE, and her cousin, a resident of Montezuma, attempting to commit suicide on the bank of the river near Hillsdale by taking arsenic. Ida's cousin, who was the daughter of a widow of Montezuma, took enough of the deadly poison to accomplish her object. She only lived about 8 hours after swallowing the drug. IDA, soon after taking the dose prepared for her by her cousin, started for her home at Hillsdale, her strange actions were soon noticed, and a neighbor present suspicioned the real cause, and the proper antidotes being administered, her life was saved. About 5 weeks since, she took down sick and lingered till last Friday when her spirit took its flight. The Doctors who attended her said she died from ulceration of the liver, which probably was superinduced by the arsenic she took last spring.

She was 15 years of age the 27th of March, and had united with the U.B. Church 4 days previous to her last illness. Her funeral was preached by Israel Lake on Sunday last in the Church at Highland, and fully 500 people were out to pay their last respects to the departed friend.
