James Walter Puckett, 72, of Speedwell died Saturday afternoon at the Claiborne County Hospital.
He was a retired truck driver, a Veteran of World War II and a Baptist. He was formerly of Dickenson County, Va.
The funeral was Tuesday at Martin's Funeral Home with elders Eugene Blevins and Billy Cook officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Puckett of Speedwell; two sons, Danny Puckett of Speedwell and James Puckett Junior of Berkley, Mich.; five daughters, Mrs. Elwood (Helen) Nicely of Speedwell, Mrs. James (Betty) Houston of Milford, Mich., Mrs. Horace (Sue) Price of Madison, Mich., Mrs. Bill (Linda) Wright of Warren, Mich., and Mrs. George (Donna) Patrick of Southfield, Mich.; one brother, Lonnie Puckett of Glade Spring, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. French (Irene) Altizer of Glade Spring and Mrs. Jessie (Ruth) Simpson of Troy, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
