Samuel J. Bake, 65, of 99 Lincoln Ave. NW, Carrollton, died Tuesday in Alliance Community Hospital following a long illness. Born October 14, 1922 in Apex, Ohio, he was the son of the late Gilbert Bake and Mary (Kearney) Schoonover. He was a life resident of Carrollton. He was a member of the Carrollton Bible Chapel and a World War II Army Veteran. He was a construction worker.
He was married April 23, 1948 to Lucille Rutledge, who survives along with two sons, Sam of Newport-Richey, Florida, and Robert Miller of Ravenna; two daughters, Mrs. Ritch (Sue) McFerren of Clearion, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. John (Judy) Lowdermilk of Carrollton; three brothers, John of Carrollton, Ed of Roanoke, Virginia, and Lee of Elkhart, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rutledge of Carrollton and Mrs. Pauline Knorr of Bryan, Ohio; one half-sister, Mrs. Shirley Snively of Gnadenhutten, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Steve Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
