Gilbert "Bert" bake, 83, who resided with a son, Samuel Bake, at 99 Lincoln Avenue, Carrollton, died Monday evening following an illness of one day. He was born February 12, 1879, near Richmond, a son of the late Gilbert and Mary (Medcalf) Bake, and had resided in this vicinity for eleven years. Mr. Bake retired in 1952 as an employee of Carrollton Mfg. Co. He was a member of Richmond Methodist Church. His wife, Mrs. Mary (Larrick) Bake, died in July 1959.
Surviving are four other sons, Gilbert of Harlem Springs, Edward of Roanoke, Virginia, Walter of Carrollton and Lee of Antwerp, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Rutledge of Rt. 2, Carrollton, and Mrs. Pauline Mattern; 11 brothers, including Thomas of Carrollton; two sisters; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. One sister is deceased. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Allmon Funeral Home here with Rev. Hayes Dietz officiating. burial will be in the Harlem Springs Cemetery.
