Patrick Toomey, Supervisor of the First District of Contra Costa County, passed away on Tuesday at Rodeo. He was the son of Patrick and Mary Rooney Tormey and was born in Westmeath, Ireland March, 1840. He and a brother and three sisters came to the United States in 1858. After engaging in several different jobs in Northern California he and his brother John purchased atout 7,000 acres of the Pinole Grant. In May, 1875 he married Miss Mary Matthews, a native of Boston. They had eight children, John, Leo, Louis, Cement, Lynus, and the Misses Mary, Ruth, and Verda.
