Mrs. Matilda Roach, wife of Samuel Roach, departed this life April 30, 1911, aged 72 years three months and eight days. She was sick four months, of heart trouble, until a day previous to her death that dreadful disease pneumonia set in and took her from us. She was called away to the better world where her sufferings will be no more. God has called her and we must submit to his good will. She faded away like a flower touched by an untimely frost. Her sufferings will be no more. They were hard to endure not only by herself but by loving hands, which kindly and willingly cared for her. Every thing that medical aid could do was done but it was our father's will to take her from us. During her illness she was nursed with hope, yet God chose her for his own, and the tender hands that did all they could for her and the hearts that loved her so well were compelled to yield to the divine will of an Almighty Providence. Mother has gone to enjoy that home; may we all meet again at the great judgment morn when the books shall be opened and the roll called. She was a member of the Church of God at Long Run. She gave her heart to Christ 30 years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss two sisters and two brothers, an aged husband and eight children. Every day a flower is plucked from some home, a vacancy made in some happy circle or a pearl snatched from some jeweled thread of friendship by the silent reaper death. Friends hoped the loved one to be spared but as the weary days passed she grew weaker and the voice of the Savior whispered thy sufferings are o'er come up higher. She closed her eyes in a dreamless sleep that knows no wakening. Sad it is that family ties must be broken here and the best and truest friends close their eyes and bid farewell to friends and earth forever. Services were held at the home of Rev. J. M. Murray, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery.
We have lost our darling mother,
She has bid us all adieu,
She has gone to live in heaven,
And her form is lost to view.
