"Samuel Harvey Roach, Well Known Farmer Dies at Home at Bristoria at the Age of 84 Years

"Waynesburg, March 22.—Following a serious illness of six weeks Samuel Harvey Roach, a well known resident of Greene county, died at his home in Bristoria at 3 o'clock this morning. He was 84 years of age and had not been in good health all winter. His condition did not become serious however until six weeks ago.

"Mr. Roach was born on March 4, 1830 and had spent his entire life in the Bristoria neighborhood. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served as a member of Company C, 18th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. Since the war he had devoted himself to farming with considerable success. His wife died three years ago."

Discharged by General Order on August 2, 1865... Filed for an invalid pension on July 15, 1878...disability listed as 'rheumatism and chronic diarrhea' and address listed as Bristoria, Green County, Pennsylvania in the 1890 Veteran's Census."
