Elery Wesley Bird died at the age of 40 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne on Wednesday, May 20, 1970 of an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Hartberg officiating. Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Elery was a lifetime resident of Wheatland, born here on Oct 4, 1930 and married Lois H. White. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His occupation was heavy equipment operator on construction.

He is survived by his wife Lois H. Bird and three sons, Phillip E., Lewis E., and John E., all at home; his mother, Mrs. Bernice A. Bird of Wheatland and one sister, Mrs George Hugh Good. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip M. Bird; one son, Harry William Bird, and one sister, Maxine Bird.

Pallbearers will be Roy Hitt, Link Redding, Charles McAuley, Robert Lauck, Lee Durham, and Zack Phifer.

Passed away Wednesday at 8:50am. Services held in the Methodist Church on May 23, with Rev. Henry Hartberg conducting. The pallbearers were close friends of Elery: Charlie McAuley, Link Redding, Roy Hitt, and classmates: Zack, Robert Lauck, & Lee Dunham. Lee was best man at Elery & Lois's wedding. They lived at Rt 1 Box 94, Wheatland, Wyoming. He was a Corporal in the US Army in Korea.

He married Lois Helen White on 5 Dec 1953 in wheatland, Platte, Wyoming.
