John Harper 'Bart' CONWAY -- Mr. Harper, 74, died Friday July 9, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was born July 27, 1935 in Lancaster County, SC, a son of Dorothy Bond Harper and the late Luther Harper. Bart was a member of the Hut Sunday School Class and First United Methodist Church of Conway. He was formerly of Lancaster, SC where he was a well-known building contractor. He was also known as an extremely loving and generous man, who always gave to those less fortunate.
He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors in addition to his mother of Pageland, SC include his loving wife, Glenda Cook Harper of Conway, two daughters, Robin Martin of Indianland, SC and Sharon Snipes of Lancaster, SC, a step-daughter, Wendy Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC, two sisters, Belle Bailey of Camden, SC and Valeria Adams of Greensboro, NC, four grandchildren, Travis Short, Haley Snipes, Cody Martin and Grayson Snipes, one great-grandchildren, Ava Ray Short and six step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 12, 2010 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach (843-449-3396) from 5:00-7:00 PM. Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kyle Randall and Rev. Eddie Usher officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 12:30-1:45 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church prior to the graveside service.
