The son William V. Montague and Mary Barrack Montague married Kate S. Warren in Norfolk on 26 November 1867. After the war, he returned to Richmond and engaged in the making of doors and sashes. He also dealt lumber. He was president of Meherrin Lumber Company and vice-president of Richmond Locomotive and Machine Works. He also was president of Planters National Bank, vice-president of the Mechanics Institute, and president of the North Birmingham Building Association.
