Article from the Rhinelander Daily News newspaper dated Tuesday, June 30, 1925:

Miss Adelaide Habiger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Habiger, of Pelican, became the bride of William Wenzel, of Rhinelander, at a pretty wedding performed at 10 o'clock this morning at the Catholic parsonage by the Reverend Father Bertram.

The couple was attended by Miss Tillie Habiger, and Herbert Habiger, brother and sister of the bride.

The bride was attired in white crepe, with veil and wreath, and carried a bouquet of roses and carnations. The bridesmaid was dressed in orchid crepe with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of sweet peas.

After the ceremony a dinner was served to 20 guests at the Habiger home. The couple will leave this afternoon for the southern part of the state. They will make their home with the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel, of Pelican.


Obituary from The Rhinelander Daily News newspaper dated Friday, March 17, 1972:

William F. Wenzel, 85, of Route 3, a resident of the town of Pelican most of his life, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.

Born April 27, 1886 in Oshkosh, Mr. Wenzel moved in his youth to Enterprise with his family and then to the town of Pelican where his parents established a farm. He worked as a logger and a farmer for many years and and was employed by the Pleoger Saw Mill and Atlas Plywood Co. He continued to work as a logger and retired at the age of 74.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. E. E. (Raeburn) Mathews of Rhinelander, two sons, Robert of Kenosha and Russell of Sugar Camp; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Adelaide in 1929, one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Carlson Funeral Home with the Reverend Eugene Baade officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until time of services.
