A paid indoor attendance record of 12,633 on 23 Mar 1943 (versus Henry Armstrong) is the 8th largest in Philadelphia boxing history. A policy was in place for this bout to permit all uniformed U.S. Military personnel to attend at no cost (a wartime gesture). Over 3700 additional attended, making it the largest attended indoor bout in Philadelphia boxing history.
Sparring partners in the Golden Glove era included Sugar Ray Robinson
Early life;
Mr. Tribuani was raised in Wilmington, Delaware from a very early pre school age. He attended Lore Elementary, Bayard Jr. High and Salesianum and Wilmington High Schools.
Please note discrepancy of his year of birth. SSDI and U.S. Social Security Applications and Claims Index shows as 1918 and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and WWII Draft Card as 1920. (Possibly due to entering National Guard service under-age) Tribuani is believed by his decedents as being born in 1921.
