Mrs. Robert Lamb, Former Teacher, Dies at Age of 81
Mrs. Martha (Whitney) Lamb, 81, of 38 Linden Street, widow of Robert Lamb, died Sunday afternoon at Richardson's Rest, where she had been a patient for the past six days.
Mrs. Lamb was born in Williamstown and was a member of one oth the town's older families. She was the daughter of Chauncey and Emma (Phelps) Whitney. She at one time taught in the local public schools. Mr. Lamb at one time operated a large livery stable on Spring street where the Rudnick's Inc. is now located.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Chester Richardson of Turners Falls, Mrs. Warren Mason of North Pownal, Vt., and Mrs. Hazel Cole and Mrs. Clyde Ulman, both of Williamstown. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Charles Ingalls of Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. Randolph Clark of Old Lyme, Conn.; Mrs. William Orton and Mrs. William Palmer of Williamstown; and six grandchildren.
The body is at the Hopkins Funeral Home, where calling hours this afternoon were from 2 to 5 o'clock and will be from 7 to 10 o'clock tonight.
Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sherman Burbank Memorial chapel. Burial will be in the family lot in Eastlawn cemetery. Rev. Newell E. Davis, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate.
