She was a graduate of Winthrop College and Furman University. She also attended the University of Alaska. She taught, both special ed in the public schools and Sunday school at her church. She was the magistrate for the City of Seneca with George Rice serving as her deputy.

Kenneth and Frances Richardson owned and operated the Richardson Theater in Seneca beginning in the late 1920's and the Oconee Theater in the 50's. They owned and operated the Seneca Journal newspaper for many years. Among her many accomplishments, she was a prolific writer/columnist, penning a column for the Journal titled "A View from an Oconee Hilltop" for many years after they sold the paper. She also wrote the official song of Oconee County, SC, "Beautiful Oconee".

She was an inspiration to many and loved by all that knew her. Her core philosophy of life was that there are three things that make life meaningful and keep you engaged for however long you have... God, family, and education. She taught God is first in all things, family comes before yourself, and education was a lifetime experience/privilege. And she taught that family was the entire community, both local and of humankind.
