Their two chihuahuas she carried in her arms every minute, every step. They would drive into town to visit in a big old International Harvester Travelall loaded with fishing gear, as I recall.


Graveside services for Claricy E. Spence, 85, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Mrs. Spence died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in Lithia, Fla. Mrs. Spence was born on July 23, 1917, in Farwell, the daughter of the late William Albert and Mary Linda Stone Gillham. She married Sam "Buck" Spence, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1990. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include brother, Will Gillham of Mexia; sister, Valem Wilson of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Nora Gillham of Odessa; nephews, John Spence of Maryville, Sam Spence of Dallas, Jim Spence of Tampa, Fla., and James Spence of Lithia, Fla.; nieces, Louise Schaffer of Sedana, Ariz., Mary Hopkins of Clarksville, Md., Colleen Arther of San Antonio, Doretha Spence of Tampa, Fla., Suzanne Spence of Tampa, Fla., and Maria Spence of Lithia, Fla.
