Wally L. Schweitzer was born April 28, 1954, in Ranson, KS, a son of Wallace and Burdene Fairbank Schweitzer. He married Tammy Friess Oct. 1, 1977.
He is survived by his wife; his son, Zachary Schweitzer and fiance' Darcy Seib; daughter, Lindsay (Tyson) Flax; and three sisters, Betty Atkinson, Cindy Berry and Anna Mae Klitzke.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Basgall.

RANSOM - Wally L. Schweitzer, 57, passed away Jan. 7, 2012, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. He was born April 28, 1954, in Ransom, Kan., the son of Wallace and Burdene Fairbank Schweitzer.

Following in his father's footsteps, Wally started working at the coop in Ransom right out of high school and continued working there for 39 1/2 years. He was a member of the Fort Hays HOG Chapter and loved everything motorcycle. He loved his Harleys almost as much as he loved his family. Although Wally fought cancer for many years he was often heard say, "Knees in the breeze is my only disease."

On Oct. 1, 1977, he married Tammy Friess in Ransom. Wally is survived by his wife, Tammy; his son, Zachary Schweitzer and his fiance Darcy Seib of Ness City; daughter, Lindsay Flax and her husband Tyson of WaKeeney; three sisters, Betty Atkinson of Arlington, Texas, Cindy Berry and Anna Mae Klitzke both of Ransom. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Basgall.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at St. Aloysius Church, Ransom with Reverend Bill Ummel presiding. Burial in the Ransom Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.fitzgeraldfuneral.com
