Shirley K. Basgall
RANSOM - Shirley Kay Basgall, 61, died June 29, 2009, at her home after multiple courageous battles with cancer. She was born April 2, 1948, to Wally and Burdene Fairbank Schweitzer. She graduated from Ransom High School, and Brown Mackie College, Salina. She worked for Kansas Fish and Game for several years, then was a secretary at Ransom Grade School, Western Plains Elementary for 26 years.
On June 20, 1970, she married Leslie Basgall in Wichita.
He survives. Other survivors include: son, Jason and wife Noel, Ellis; two daughters, Jennifer and Erick Winebrenner, Salina, and Joni and Dusty Kisslinger, Ransom; three sisters, Cindy Berry, and Anna Mae Klitzke, both of Ransom, and Betty Atkinson, Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Wally Schweitzer, Ransom; and seven grandchildren.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Western Plains High School, Ransom. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Ransom Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Shirley Basgall Scholarship Fund.
