Daphne Collins Brown died peacefully at home, October 1st, 2010. She was 79 years of age.

Born and raised in Dickinson, North Dakota, Daphne attended ND State College in Dickinson and Montana State University in Bozeman prior to marrying Naval officer Larry J. Brown, also from Dickinson, in 1953. Daphne and Larry began their married life in Coronado, CA. Thereafter they and their sons resided in several cities in the United States and in Japan before settling back in Coronado in 1975.

Daphne was an active civic and charity volunteer wherever they lived, notably for the Navy Relief Society, San Diego Museum of Art, Coronado Chamber of Commerce and Coronado Museum of History and Art. She was cited for outstanding service in a number of awards.

She is survived by Larry, her husband for 57 years, sons Kevin, Brian, Colin and Barry, and grandsons Kenny (Colin), and Carson and Thomas (Brian). She was predeceased by son Larry Dean. The family will hold a private service. Published in U-T San Diego on Oct. 3, 2010
