Ruth McCauley Reeves, 81

Ruth Carolyn McCauley Reeves, 81, Cynthiana, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

A native of Harrison County. She was born March 31, 1930 to the late William Clarence and Sallie Kennedy McCauley. She was a graduate of Buena Vista School. She was a member to the Cynthiana Baptist Church. Ruth and her late husband, John Ivan, owned the Cynthiana Credit Bureau; she was the bookkeeper for their businesses, J's Insulation and R & J Trucking. She had worked at Ecklar Moore and Kawneer. Mrs. Reeves was the first secretary when Cynthiana and Harrison County schools merged in 1963.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, John Ivan Reeves; a son, Mark Alan Reeves; a sister, June McCauley Pepper and two brothers, Harlow McCauley and Harold McCauley. Survivors include a daughter, Jan Evans Reeves, Cynthiana; a grandson, Caleb Mark Harris, Cynthiana; four nieces, Carolyn Brannock, Cynthiana, Peggy (Lem) Arnold, Cynthiana, Patsy (Allen) Waugh, Lexington and Kaye McCauley, Cynthiana; a nephew, Ross (Mary) Pepper III, Kissimmee, Florida; a sister in-law, Lillian Pierce, Millersburg; a host of great nieces and great nephews; great great-nieces and great great-nephews and two very special and dear friends, JoAnne West and Bettye Marshall.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Ware Funeral Home by Allen Waugh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cynthiana Baptist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Marsh, J Frank Marsh, Dr. Frank McKemie, Kenny Ross, Elmer West, Jr., Ed Smith, Jeff Dale and Russ Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lem Arnold, Charles Garrison, Harold Kendall, Don Marsh, J. D. Patridge, Brad Marshall and Rees Marshall.
