The source for this story is attributed to "A History of the Carroll Family" by John Howard.

I have made corrections in grammar and spelling.

"Rodolphus was a painter and paper hanger by trade before entering the ministry. He had one brother, Earl, who lived in New York. Earl was in World War I and went back to Binghamton, New York, to work for the Binghamton Electrical Co.

Dolph, as he was called by his friends, had very little formal education. After entering the fourth grade, he was taken out by his mother because of a measles scare.

When Rodolphus realized that he was called of God to the ministry, he didn't know whether he would be accepted by the Methodist Episcopal Church because of his education. However, he was accepted as a Supply Pastor and entered their home course of study. He was close to completion when he died. He died suddenly at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, where he had gone for some tests. He left home on Thursday and died early Sunday morning.

His favorite song was Amazing Grace.

He was a very congenial man and father. He was helpful in caring for the children. He had 8 children, 6 boys and 2 girls.

He owned a 1922 and a 1925 Motel T Ford and also a 1930 Model A.

He was good at baking apple pies.

He was unusual in that he went back and pastored his home church for 2 years. During his time there, they had one of the greatest revivals that the church ever had. It lasted between 8 and 9 weeks with over 100 conversions."
