Porter Crane enlisted on 14 August 1861 and was mustered in as sergeant in Company H, 6th Vermont Volunteer Infantry on 15 Oct '61. He was promoted to Full 1st Sergeant on 1 Nov 1861, to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 18 Feb 1862, to Full 1st Lieutenant on 20 Sep 1862 and to Full Captain on 4 May 1863. He was mustered out on 28 Oct 1864.
Porter Crane enlisted on 14 August 1861 and was mustered in as sergeant in Company H, 6th Vermont Volunteer Infantry on 15 Oct '61.
