On May 23, 1861, she was married to Andrew Purviance at Morristown, Ill., where they lived until 1879, when they removed to a farm near Geneva, Neb., living there until their removal to University Place in 1905.

Their family consisted of four girls and three boys, all of whom are living except Lena Purviance, who died at, Geneva, Neb., in 1881. The oldest son, Sidney Purviance, lives at Pendleton, Ore.; Hester Mead at University Place, Percy Purviance at Eureka, Cal., Fannie Purviance at University Place, Ella West at Belvidere, Neb., and Willis Purviance at Lincoln.

Her husband died at Geneva, Neb., July 27, 1895. She has one brother living, Sidney Sperbeck, of Poughkeepsle, N.Y., who is the only living member of a large family.

From early childhood she had been a member of the Episcopal church living in simple, quite faith in her God. She was a woman of great firmness of character, quick in decisions and possessed with remarkable ability to cope with life's problems. These qualities made her a valuable friend and adviser not only to her family but too many whose lives show the touch of her helpful hand at the time most needed.

The funeral will be held at the home, 2021 Warren Avenue, Sunday at 2:30, p. m. The body will be taken to Geneva Monday morning for interment. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and neighbors.—
