ALLIANCE - Bob Carr, 71, of Alliance died April 19, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, at Bristow to Charley and Gladys (Hartman) Carr. He married Betty Kraft on Nov. 15, 1951. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He and his family moved to Alliance in 1959. He worked for KCOW Radio for 17 years and was Building and Zoning Administrator for the City for 18 years. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, served on the Camp Norwesca Board, Campfire Board, president of the Chamber of Commerce, planning commission, board of adjustment and on the board of the Box Butte County Employees Credit Union. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Betty Carr; his daughters and husbands, Mary Ann and Buzz Grover of Hill City, S.D., and Sue and Horace Howard of Alliance; grandchildren, Kasey and Kim Carter of Charlotte, N.C., Heidi Schaub of Keystone, S.D., Angie and Ernie Charles of Alliance, Craig Carter of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Jennifer Grover of Hill City, S.D., Matt and Tina Howard of Alliance; and 3 great-grandchildren, Hayley, Cade and Colton Charles of Alliance. He also is survived by brothers and spouses, Russell and Vera Carr of Brush Prairie, Wash., and Jim and Peggy Carr of Alliance; sister and spouse, Beth and Paul Classen of Lake Jackson, Texas; sister-in-law Faye Carr of Houston, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eva Carr and brother, John Carr. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, at the United Methodist Church in Alliance with the Revs. Mark Schutt and Kasey Carter officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
