Samuel Haywood Stanford was born on 24 Feb 1907 in Ben Wheeler, Van Zandt County, Texas to parents Thomas Jefferson Stanford (1852-1929)& Sarah Ethel Chapman (1868-1948).Samuel married first, Donie M. Harris, the daughter of Thomas Brank Harris & Annie Stanley abt 1927 & had one child, Samuel (Sammie) Ray Stanford. Donie died of 2nd and 3rd degree burns when her kerosen stove caught fire. 2nd, he married Ina Arletta Lundry born 18 February 1918 in Altus, Jackson County, Oklahoma, father Mr. Lundry b abt. 1892 & mother Willie L. ? b 1893, Samuel had three children with Ina; Wenfred Eugene, James H & Willie(Billie) Estelle Stanford.
Samuel Haywood Stanford died 18 September 1966 in Bakersfield, Kern Co., California and was buried on 21 Sept. 1966 in the Green Lawn Cemetery.

STANFORD, SAM HAYWOOD----Services will be conducted at Greenlawn Mortuary, Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for Sam Haywood Stanford, 59, of 4401 Quantico Avenue, who died Sept. 18 in a Bakersfield Hospital. The Rev. Vernon Ragsdale will officiate at the services and interment will follow at
Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Stanford was a native of Texas and had resided in Kern County eight years. He had been a driller helper for 25 years and was last employed by Hylton Drilling Co. Survivors include his widow, Ina
Arleta Stanford of the home address; two sons, Sammy R. and James H Stanford of Bakersfield; a daughter Billie Estelle Stanford of Bakersfield; five sisters, Ellen Walker of Porterville, (Calif), Nan Moss, Mrs. N. O. Sullivan, Mrs. T. C. Moss and Marie Williford, all of Texas. Pallbearers
will be Don Finley, Tom Brown, Dan Seely, Claude Solmon, Ralph Pewitt and Jerry Giles. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sanders, Joe Conn, Dean Leard and Willie Howell.
