Resolutions of Respect.
It is but a touch of the finger of God, and we are transported from the busy scenes of our daily lives, from the friendly greetings of our many acquaintances, and those daily occurrences of life which render us happy here, to that country from which no traveler returns, and from Which no tidings ever come of their safe arrival. Thus it was that on Feb. 16th, 1905, Vancel W. Anderson left his friends and brothers, and passed to the other shore. Now we have come to cast the "sprig of Acacia "into the grave of our loved brother, it is not in the spirit of Hiram, King of Tyre that we say "Alas, my brother," but with the faith of Solomon, and the cry of anguish is not for him, but for ourselves who remain yet a little while, -and will miss his friendship and companionship. Brother Anderson was not a member of Ashley Lodge; but we had learned to love and respect him for his sterling qualities of masonry and manhood. Though his masonic record is denied us, yet his masonic life for many years has been ours, and we can commend it for its purity and devotion to all his duties to God, his country, his neighbor and himself. His life was real, it was earnest. His devotion to his family was marked for 'its fidelity. To masonry and the church, brother Anderson bore the love of a true christian and devoted brother; and his trust was to be a perfect stone for the spiritual building of God. For such as he, we smile through our tears, for we know of such is the kingdom. While we miss him, we commend him to the God we loved. Resolved that the resolutions be spread upon the minutes; a copy given to the family of Brother Anderson; a copy mailed to his Lodge, and published in the Star.
