In 1820, George married the former Miss Isabella Hearst, daughter of Joseph A. Hearst and his aunt, Jane Pressly Hearst. George and Isabella had eight children.
George W. Pressly received his degree of M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania on 9th April 1824 and returned to Abbeville County to pursue his practice; which lasted 56 years.
Dr. Pressly was a ruling Elder of both Long Cane and Cedar Springs A.R.P. churches and upon his death in 1870; buried in the churchyard cemetery at Cedar Springs.
