David married around 1787, Jane Patterson, daughter of Samuel and Mary Patterson of Ninty-Six, South Carolina. The Patterson's had emigrated to America on the ship, The Freemason; which departed from Newry, Ireland on 27 Oct 1772 and arrived in Charleston on 22 Dec 1772.

David Pressly died the 21st of September 1818 at his home in Troy. He is buried in Cedar Springs A.R.P. Churchyard.
