Don Slaughter, 62, died Monday (Jan. 19, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Kingsport where he resided most of his life. Don graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1964 and became a teacher/coach in Church Hill and in North Carolina.
In 1980 he returned to Kingsport and started a career in real estate. In 1989 he became owner/broker of Don Slaughter Realtors which he was currently operating.
His parents, Paul and Gladys Slaughter; one niece; and three nephews preceded him in death.
As a proud graduate and athlete at Dobyns-Bennett High School, he was very passionate about the school's program; he and his three sons were captains of their football teams.
