On March 1, 1946 in Troy, KS, Fern was united in marriage to Sam Metcalf, he passed away on May 7, 1987.
Fern was a homemaker for most of her life, and had also been a cook at the Maitland school. She was of the Presbyterian faith and attended the Maitland Presbyterian Church. She loved playing pitch with her friends in Maitland, and she loved to bowl, do crafts and was fond of the show "M.A.S.H." on T.V.
Left to mourn her passing are her children; Billy Jim (Mary) Metcalf, Karen J. (Phil) Wilmes, and Steven W. (Cindy) Metcalf, all of Maryville; her sister, Ruth Allen, Skidmore, MO; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Presbyterian Church, Maitland, MO. The burial will be in the Maitland Cemetery, also of Maitland.
