John was one of twenty-one children. He had 12 half buy his father, 5 by his mother and 3 full siblings. 3 half siblings are to be found from his father. Memorials were created for them. Would like to find half sisters Amanda and Ellen Keesling through mother. Full sibling Frederick Hankins has yet to be found as well. The family farm was located in Reed Station which is in very close proximity of Jones Cemetery. It is quite possible Amanda, Ellen and Frederick could be here. The cemetery records prior to 1920 are very sketchy. Several of the family have unmarked graves.

John was the janitor of Pleasant Run Church by Jones Cemetery (also known as Pleasant Run Cemetary) in early 1900s. He was the president for the association of Jones Cemetery. He purchased his plots at Jones for $25-40 in 1905 according to book "History of Jones Cemetery".
