Obituary / Additional Information: Harold (Shorty) AHLERS, 62, 310 N. Main St. New Bremen, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to complications following an extended illness. Born Sept 30, 1913 in New Bremen, he was the son of William and Clara WIERWILLE AHLERS. His mother survives. On June 6, 1936 he married Frances RUWOLDT and she is living. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jeanette GUFFEY, New Bremen; Mrs. Homer (Roselyn) STUTZMAN, Botkins; Mrs. Ernest (Elaine) COVAULT, Anna; one son Willliam AHLERS, New Bremen,; 11 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Wilbert (Ethel) SUDMAN, Route 1, New Bremen, Mrs. Lucille LUTTERBECK, New Bremen. One grandson is deceased. Mr. AHLERS belonged to the Home Benefit Association, New Bremen; the Woodmen of the World, New Bremen and St. Paul United Cnurch of Christ, New Bremen. He was self-employed for 24 years in New Bremen as a refuse hauler. He also worked for five years for Beatrice Foods in New Bremen. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen with the Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys. Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Woodmen of the World memorial service at 9 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society.
