She was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Van Buren County to Lewis and Lottie Doll Albright. She married Rex W. Stewart Dec. 31, 1950, in Ottumwa.
Mary Lou was a homemaker and helped her husband manage the family farm. She also managed the Sale Barn Cafe for several years. She was a member and past treasurer of the Drakesville United Methodist Church and the Drakesville United Methodist Quilters, where she also served as treasurer. She was a 4-H leader and belonged to the Saturday Night Card Club and the Laff-A-Lot Club.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Dennis(Susan)Stewart of Bloomfield; two daughters, Joyce(Lyle)Spurgeon of Drakesville and Wanda(Jerry)Swanberg of Forest City; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Albright of Washington; and a sister, Lela Mae Downing of Batavia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Murl, Earl and Jerry Albright.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at the Drakesville United Methodist Church; with Pastors Jerald Swanberg and Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville. Visitation will begin at 9 am Wednesday with the family pressent to greet friends from 5-7 pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to the Mary Lou Stewart Memorial College Scholarship.
