AGED MAN DIES

Carlisle, Jan. 18. - Francis Bear, aged 85, died this morning at his home, in West Pomfret street (sic). He is survived by a sister, Mrs. William Black and one brother, David Bear, of Newville.

Frances (sic) E. Bear, who moved here from West Pennsboro township, a goodly number of years ago, died this morning about ten o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.P. Wert, Pomfret and West streets. He would have been 85 years old next month. Mr. Bear was for many years a prominent farmer of West Pennsboro township, and was a school director in that township. For many years he was the agent for the Queen washing machine and his sales were numerous. He was affiliated with the Mennonite Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. J.P. Wert and Mrs. Scott Alter, of Carlisle; his brother, David Bear, of near Plainfield, and sister, Mrs. William H. Black, of Carlisle.

The funeral of Francis Bear will take place at 2:30 Sunday from the Wert home, Pomfret and West streets. Burial in the Church of God cemetery (sic) at Plainfield.
