JoAnne Wahl, 68, of Trail Creek, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Walter Rakoczy officiating. Burial will follow mass in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home and on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church.

JoAnne was born March 22, 1943 in Michigan City to the late Russell and Elsie (Konkey) Glick.

On January 13, 1968 in Michigan City she married Dennis Wahl who is surviving in Trail Creek.

Also surviving is one sister: Lorraine (Michael) Dreske of Michigan City; two brothers: Ken (Anne) Glick and James "Jimmy" Glick both of Michigan City; six nieces and nephews: Kim Glick, Michele (Brian) Westphal, Scott Glick, Stephanie Ream, Katharine (Allan) Hekter and Allsion (Danny) Wheatbrook; five great-nieces and nephews: Austin Glick, Jocelyn Hekter, Tristan Westphal, Brayden Westphal and Scott Glick; special friends: Sally and Lee Timm, Linda Loetz, Janice Shepperson and Eliszabeth Konkey.

Preceding her in death is one niece Carrie Glick.

JoAnne retired after 25 years of service with Milton-Roy Hays Republic.

She was a member of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Women of the Moose Chapter #935; and the Vivians. She was the care taker for the family and was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family and polka dancing.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or Share Foundation for the Handicapped.

Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. and Thursday 9-10 a.m.
