Bend, Ore.--Eleanor Nellie Griffin, 84, of Bend and Sherwood, Ore., died in Bend Oct. 5, 1999. A family memorial service will be held in Portland.
She was born in Shawmut on Oct. 26, 1914 to Harry and Nellie Davis. She attended high school in Missoula, where she was valedictorian of her class.
In 1935 she married Lyle Griffin of Inverness. The couple settled in Chicago, where he pursued his career as commercial artist. After one year they returned to the family farm in Inverness. The Griffins continued to farm there and to live part-time in Havre until 1962, when Mr. Griffin passed away.
She graduated from the University of Montana in 1966 and after an internship at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, Calif., she worked for 20 years as a medical technologist at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula. While there she served a term as president of the Montana Medical Technologists Association.
Some of her many hobbies were music, travel, camping, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include sisters, Genevieve Boozel of Great Falls, and Dora Davis of Tigard, Ore.; a brother, Bill Davis of San Antonio; daughters, Judy Diliberto, of Sherwood, Ore., and Joan Hinds of Bend, Ore.; a son, Phil Griffin, of Puyallup, Wash.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
