PROMINENT FARMER DIES AT HOME HERE

William H. Slack Had Been Resident Of Phillips County 30 Years

Funeral services were conducted in Holyoke Sunday afternoon for William H. Slack, 69, prominent Phillips County farmer and livestock breeder, who died at his farm home at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon following a short illness. Death was due to influenza and complications, with which he suffered one week.

The deceased, a son of William R. and Mary Slack, was born in Davis County, Iowa, May 15, 1870. When he was six years old, his parents moved into Wayne County, Nebraska, where he resided until the spring of 1906, when he moved to Phillips County in Colorado. He was united in marriage to Miss Lila Shriver at Harvard, Iowa on October 28, 1891.

During his residence in northeastern Colorado, Mr. Slack had always assumed an active interest in farming and livestock interests.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lila Shriver Slack; a daughter, Mrs. J.M. Fulton (Mina) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. C.A. Stiles of Holyoke; three brothers, J.L. Slack of Gordon, Nebraska, George Slack of Yakima, Washington, and Roy Slack of Holyoke; two granddaughters, Miss Eleanor Fulton of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Miss Virginia Fulton of Washington, D.C.; four nephews and six nieces. One daughter, Alta, preceded him in death.

The funeral service was conducted at 2 o'clock at the Colver Brothers funeral home with Rev. T.R. Layton, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. A male quartet sang with Mrs. P.S. Struble playing the piano accompaniments. Members of the quartet were C.A. Mowry, G.L. Bereman, Walter H. Rouze and Dr. P.S. Struble.

Interment was made in the Holyoke cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. P.S. Struble, George B. Heginbotham, Otto Fulscher, C.E. Paul, Paul Reimer and C.A. Mowry.

The out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. J.M. Fulton of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Slack of Gordon, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mason and son of North Platte, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. George Heilman of Cheyenne Wells, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shriver and Mrs. Harry Thomas and children of Weskan, Kansas, G.W. Good of Bloomfield, Iowa and Everett Shriver of Sewal, Iowa.
