NORWALK - Roy L. Schild, 88, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Friday, May 29, 2009 at Norwalk Memorial Home.
He was born May 7, 1921 in Bronson Township, Ohio to the late Lloyd A. and Julia E. (Linder) Schild and was a lifelong area farmer.
Roy was also a lifelong member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in W.W. II. Roy was a former Bronson Township School Board Member and an avid woodworker. He retired from Norwalk Furniture Corporation and Mark''s Excavating Company of Norwalk, Ohio.
A dedicated family man, Roy, was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Iona (Tanner) Schild in 2003. He is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Kathy and Roger Burtchin of Pemberville, Ohio, Judy and Randy Miller of Palm Bay, Florida, and Becky and Bob Theisen of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Albright of Willard, Ohio and Jane and A.W. Barton of Shelby, Ohio and by his brother and sister in law, Lewis and Mary Ann Schild of Norwalk, Ohio.
Friends may call on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Fred Wiechers will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
