Alberta Ford Reed,79, of 1023 W. Main St. Vevay, died Saturday, July 4, at Swiss Villa Living Center in Vevay.
She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Dilver and Bessie Bennett Ford, She worked as a janitor for several years at Jeff-Craig Elementary School. She also was a former postmaster at Florence Post Office for four years. She lived all her life in Switzerland County. She was a member of Markland Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Laverne Craig of Rising, Joy Sokoloski of Seattle, Washington, and Pamela Reed of Fort Wayne: three sons, Ronald Reed of Allensville, Marvin " Dick" Reed of Mexico, Indiana, and Mark Reed of Vevay; two brothers, Eddie Ford of Madison and Harold Ford of Vevay; three sisters, Cleta Markland of East Enterprise, Jeannie Crawford of Chesterton, and Thelma Robinson of Largo, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry " Jim" Reed, on August 30, 1979; one son, Kenneth Randy Reed, on October 19, 1970; and her twin sister, Alfredia Ford.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home. Vevay, with burial at Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday after 8 a.m.
