Highly Respected Resident of the City is Called

Mrs. Eva Mengel, widow of the late Fritz Mengel, died at her home, 405 East Rusholme street, at 6:25 p.m. Friday. She had been ailing for some time.

Mrs. Mengel was a well known resident of the city and was highly respected by all who know her. Her late husband was for many years proprietor of a meat market at Fourth and Western avenue.

She was born in St. Louis, Oct. 7, 1866, and there received her education in the public schools. She was married to Mr. Mengel, Jan. 18, 1885, in that city, and came with him to Davenport, 37 years ago. He died Sept. 14, 1921.

Mrs. Mengel was a member of the Eastern Star No. 178 and the welfare society of that order, and at the Waite Shrine.

Surviving here are two sons, Herman and Walter Mengel, and three daughters, Mrs. Laura Rider, Mrs. L. F. Paarmann, and Mrs. G. T. Duve, all of this city. Nine grandchildren also survive.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from the late home with burial in Fairmount cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Frank Court will officiate.
