Mable Woods Oxendine, 90, formally of Maxton, was born Sept. 5, 1921, to the late Pink and Smithy Woods, and went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 30, 2011, at Lumberton Assited Living Rest Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Channels Oxendine; her parents, Pink and Smithy Woods; her sons, Hammer Lee Oxendine, Luther Oxendine Jr. and Truman Oxendine.
Mrs. Oxendine leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Phyllis Oxendine Locklear of Lumberton and Avis Oxendine Brown of Maxton; two sons, Wyvis Oxendine (Denise) and Turley Oxendine (Norene), both of Maxton; two daughter-in-laws, Emily Oxendine and Shelia Oxendine, both of Maxton; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several special nieces; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Cherokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church, the Revs. Jimmy Locklear, Kip Woods and James Harold Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
