Mrs. Mary YOUNG, whose 100th birthday was observed last September, died at her home in Bangor, Maine on Wednesday. Her body was taken to Calais and the funeral occurred from the house of her son, Benjamin YOUNG. (St. Croix Courier, December 13, 1883)

In the 1880 U.S. Census, widow Mary Young, "grandmother", 96, born N.H., parents born Mass., was living in Calais, Maine, with postmaster Willis Haycock, 35, born Maine; Ella M., 38, born Maine, father born Vermont and mother born Maine; Frank L., 13; Allan, 11; Charles A., 6; Winthrop Y., 3; Don, 2; and Ralph, one month, all born in Maine. Living with them were servants Margaret Sinclair, 49, and Mary O'Neil, 42, both born in Canada.

In the 1870 U.S. Census, Benjamin Young, 57, born Vermont, does lumbering, was living in Calais, Maine, with Rhoda, 54; Mary S., 20; Mattie, 18; and Charles W., 12, all born in Maine; Mary Young, 87, born Vermont; domestic servant Lizzie Patrick,20, born Canada; and domestic servant William Mitchell, 35, born Canada.

Mary was the daughter of Samuel Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Clark.
